GIS Specialist IV

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced GIS Specialist IV to join our team. As a GIS Specialist IV, you will play a critical role in the development, implementation, and maintenance of our Geographic Information System (GIS) initiatives. You will be responsible for advanced-level geospatial analysis, database management, and the production of high-quality maps and visualizations. Your expertise and leadership will contribute to the success of our organization's spatial data management and analysis projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilizes Geographic Information System techniques to provide a better understanding of certain variables in a given geographic location. 
• Extracts data from GIS software and uses varying analysis methods to arrive at results. 
• Recommends appropriate reactionary strategies in response to GIS analysis. 
• Provides maps and data sets to clients to supplement analysis.
• Works in conjunction with CADD drafters and technicians.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience working as a GIS Specialist or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in using GIS software, such as Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of geospatial analysis techniques, including spatial modeling, network analysis, and spatial statistics.
• Experience with geodatabase design and management, data modeling, and ETL processes.
• Proficient in cartographic principles and map production techniques.
• Familiarity with remote sensing, image processing, and data acquisition techniques.
• Solid understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and geospatial data standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 
• Can easily perform a variety of tasks.
• Having a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Leadership experience and the ability to mentor staff members is desirable.
